I am very interested in productivity of ‘new product development’ processes and especially in the impact of leadership on productivity. My research is focused on that relation: what management style and what management interventions help improve productivity and what are counter-effective?

One of these areas is for instance how leadership deals with the intrinsic uncertainty of new product development. In many organisations you see that predictability is implemented by delegating it to levels where people no longer can control that predictability other than introducing buffers. And the result is often heavy congestions, low productivity and also low predictability. Especially with Agile methods, there are better ways to deal with uncertainty and ensure predictability.
